Since the college’s founding in 1970, we have sought to create one of the pre-eminent institutions with earth, ocean, and environmental programs in the nation.

The 2006 union with the Department of Geological Sciences and the 2009 union with the Department of Geography added the critical component of our earth systems and furthered our quest for excellence in the field.

Through these departments and the School of Marine Science and Policy, CEOE brings the latest advances in technology to bear on both teaching and conducting ocean, earth, and atmospheric research.

Our distinguished faculty includes members of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Association of Geology Teachers, the Archaeological Institute of America, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, a Presidential Faculty Fellow, a Fulbright Scholar, and several University named professors.

The college is the administrative base of the Delaware Geological Survey, the Delaware Geographic Alliance, and the Delaware Sea Grant College Program and is home to the secretariat of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research.
